Great Billing Pocket Park
Notes for the Pocket Park Volunteers 2nd May 2008.
Since the last news bulletin the volunteers have continued to maintain the Park and also in two Wednesday meetings, have laid the foundation for the Replica Ha Ha wall and have built the first two courses of concrete blocks. The block wall will form the support for the later addition of the sandstone facing to make it look authentic.
Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped but also a very big thank you to Neil Hemmington of Hevey Building Supplies in Crow Lane for their generous help in supplying the materials for the project.
The Park itself is looking good and as a follow on from the early spring flowers we now have the rapid growth of the various forms of Parsley and Ground-elder with their white umbrella shaped heads.

Together with these plants are some new ones to the Park. The white one we can identify as Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata)

but the other mauve one is a mystery and any help would be appreciated.

Our next meeting will be on 28th May although I believe that Russell will be at the park on most Wednesdays and would welcome any company.
